Volunteer Opportunites

Event

  • Adoption events, Fundraising events, Community outreach events

  • Event Volunteers are essential in making an event a success. Whether it is an adoption event, fundraising event, or a community outreach event, we cannot do them without volunteers. Event volunteers are the key to being able to take more animals to or have more time for people to come by during an event. If you can’t be a volunteer during the week, events may be right up your alley. From setting up the HSDC information table and cat adoption cages to handling dogs on leashes for people to meet, greeting the public, or transporting animals to and from the event, there are many duties to be covered and we can always use help for these.

Transport

  • Donation pick-ups at certain places or people.

  • Transporting dogs and cats to vets, rescues, and spay/neuter clinic.

  • Drive cats/dogs to other rescues or spay/neuter clinics

  • Help load/unload carriers of cats/dogs into the transport vehicle

  • Help set up cages for transport

  • Help care for the cats/dogs going on transport

  • Help clean cages and carriers after transport

You would be there to answer questions, give out information, or give out food/supplies to people when they come by to pick up. A staff member is always available by phone if a question arises you don't know the answer to.

PetSmart Adoption Cages

  • We have partnered with PetSmart on Hanes Mall Blvd in Winston-Salem and have 4 cat cages with adoptable cats and kittens housed there.

  • Volunteers are needed to clean the cat cages daily and of course love on the cats that will be staying there until they are adopted.

  • We would need to have someone show you around for your first shift. If you’re interested, let us know and we can send you the link to sign up and more details.

Would you like to get involved in helping our community’s dogs and cats? At the Humane Society of Davie County, we are always looking for volunteers for various needs and events. With HSDC having a small staff and being a non-profit organization, we rely on the help of volunteers to accomplish so much in saving the lives of animals in Davie and surrounding counties. We have an administrative office and resource center. All our adoptable cats and dogs are in foster homes. Volunteer needs are always popping up and we reach out when these arise. We would love for you to join the HSDC Family!
